To be honest, I'm very tired of my blind efforts. For instance, a capable wife as outlined in Proverbs 31:10-31 — to be honest, I have only met one woman personally that fits the description. She happened to be my boss lady, and stories like that only happen on TV.

Granted, I will not marry my boss lady. Plus I can imagine getting a ring, getting down on one knee and asking her to marry me, and it would be like a newspaper comic strip, Beetle Bailey: I don't remember what Beetle did to make the Sargent mad, he stomped him into the ground, and I imagined she would do the same thing to me while reminding me: "I told you to keep this professional," over and over again.

Like Beetle, I would hold up one finger and say, "You missed a finger!?" Then she would stomp that one! Then like Beetle replies: "You are a perfectionist!" So I will never try that.

Why don't I continue to try desperately to find a new mate before I get too old and uninterested for it to even matter?

For one thing, I don't think that could ever happen. My first wife just came out of nowhere without me doing anything to help it along or to stop it. However, it was a bad marriage. I have some good memories from the start, but looking back, the reason it was bad was it was more a physical relationship than anything.

Towards the end, I was the only one really truly in love, and the only one really truly trying. When real challenges came up, she would have fought to keep her relationship, keep her man, but she just gave up without a fight. Also, it was for no good reason — none of the things I was accused of were true. My stepchildren desperately needed to end our marriage to keep control of her money, so they didn't care if anything was going on, for they just loved money so much. So I'm not in a hurry for another 32-year nightmare.

Why have I given up on online dating?

To put it bluntly, it's a video game from hell. Whether it's a so-called safe site or an unsafe site, scam artists are still there, and I learned a valuable lesson about trust issues — keep them, and use them as a rule of thumb, so to speak. No one can be trusted until you meet them in person and they are fully verified. I'm old school now. I have to meet someone in person from now on before I believe they deserve my trust.

Speaking honestly, I'm not ready for the real deal, a truly capable wife! A genuinely capable wife as outlined in Proverbs 31:10-31 is nothing to sniff at, for they are truly rare. Most women probably look at those scriptures and refuse to do it because they don't know too many men that would deserve to have a woman like that.

However, the inspired word speaks contrary to that. A truly capable wife is so valuable that if she ends up with a not-so-capable man, but she continues in her capableness, she will win him over to God, without even preaching a word to him. To quote the apostle: "By her chaste conduct, her husband would be won without a word!"
